Iran is reportedly gearing up for an assault on Israel that will involve more advanced warheads and “other weapons” not utilized in its previous two strikes, according to Iranian and Arab officials who spoke to The Wall Street Journal.
An Egyptian official informed the Journal that Tehran has privately warned Cairo that its response to Israel’s airstrikes on October 26—conducted in retaliation for Iran’s ballistic missile attack on October 1—will be “strong and complex.”
An Iranian official has indicated that the loss of four soldiers and one civilian necessitates a response. The report states that Iran’s military will play a role in this operation, which marks a shift from the missile attacks on April 13-14 and October 1, which were executed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Additionally, the official noted that the forthcoming attack will aim at Israeli military sites “much more aggressively than before,” and may involve the launch of projectiles from Iraqi territory.
