Dilip Joshi, known for his role as Jethalal, has dismissed reports of a supposed altercation with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Kumar Modi. In a statement, he labeled the allegations as “completely untrue,” emphasizing that such rumors seem to stem from jealousy towards the show’s ongoing success. Since the show’s debut in 2008, Dilip has portrayed Jethalal Champaklal Gada.
Speaking to Times Now news, Dilip expressed his desire to clarify the situation: “I want to address the circulating rumors about me and Asit Bhai, which are entirely false. It saddens me to see such claims, as Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah holds immense significance for me and millions of fans. Baseless rumors not only hurt us but also our dedicated viewers.”
He added, “It’s upsetting to witness negativity surrounding something that has brought joy to so many for years. Each time these rumors arise, we find ourselves in the position of having to refute them, which is exhausting and frustrating. It’s not just about us; it impacts all the fans who cherish the show and feel distressed by these reports.” Dilip noted that the rumors aimed at “defaming Asit Bhai” disappointed him, and he reaffirmed that claims suggesting he would leave the show are false.
Earlier, a source cited by News18 claimed that Dilip had become angry, leading to a heated exchange with Asit Modi, during which he allegedly threatened to leave the show before being calmed down. This incident supposedly occurred in August over a leave request.
Additionally, Mandar Chandwadkar, who portrays Bhide on the show, also dismissed these rumors, stating in a recent conversation with SCREEN, “What nonsense? Who spreads such rumors? We are all filming quite happily and peacefully.” Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been airing since 2008 and is produced by Neela Asit Modi and Asit Kumar Modi, making it the longest-running sitcom on Indian television.
